Description

The Prisma SMART autoCPAP device from Löwenstein Medical is a high-quality, reliable and compact piece of equipment. It is designed to provide obstructive sleep apnoea treatment for people weighing over 30 kg who require variation in treatment pressure. The treatment pressure automatically adapts to the user’s needs.

It has a large LED display with clearly-structured menus, making operation intuitive and user-friendly.

The device offers the option of setting to CPAP or autoCPAP mode. As patients’ sensitivity to pressure adjustments varies, AutoCPAP mode features two setting options: standard and dynamic, to provide individualised therapy for each patient and to support smoother patient adaptation to therapy.

Prisma SMART can be used together with the Prisma AQUA humidifier, which humidifies and warms the breathable air to stop the mucous membranes drying out during therapy. It can also be connected to an oxygen therapy source and supports a maximum flow of 15 litres per minute.

For maximum patient comfort, the device offers two settings:

• SoftSTART: this feature delivers a gradual increase in pressure at the beginning of treatment for a set time, until therapy pressure is reached. This is a very useful setting for patients who find high pressure uncomfortable while awake and cannot fall asleep.
• SoftPAP: with this function enabled, it is easier for the patient to exhale. The pressure in CPAP and autoCPAP mode is reduced at the start of expiration and increased to therapy pressure in time for the start of the inhalation phase.

The patient’s breathing patterns while sleeping are constantly analysed by the prisma RECOVER system to identify phases of stable respiration, RERA, snoring, hypopnoea, obstructive and central apnoea, as well as flow limitations.

The Prisma SMART autoCPAP device has a range of data transfer options (SD, LAN and external modem) to allow healthcare staff to consult and adjust therapies remotely. It also has a mobile app so that patients can see the most important data concerning their treatment.

This is not a life-supporting device.
