Description
The EMST150 expiratory muscle strength trainer from Keylab Medical consists of a plexiglass tube with a spring-loaded mechanism and a one-way valve that blocks airflow until sufficient pressure is reached. The patient must exhale forcefully through the mouthpiece to open the valve and allow air to pass. During exhalation, before the valve opens, pressure builds up, helping to clear the airways and mobilise secretions.
It is therefore a PEP (positive expiratory pressure) device that serves to train the muscles of patients with degenerative diseases like ALS or Parkinson’s, or people with cystic fibrosis, COPD, atelectasis, asthma or pneumopathies with secretion issues.
Its small size and ease of use make it ideal for home use. Also, as it is easy to carry, patients can travel comfortably with the EMST150 expiratory muscle strength trainer. It is easy to clean and includes a nose clip.
