Description

The paediatric nasal cannula from Intersurgical is a system designed to adapt to the small size of children’s nasal cavities, to enable the administration of oxygen therapy to these patients. It has two prongs that fit into the nose and are secured around the ears to minimise discomfort and prevent slipping.

These cannulas are made from latex-free materials to avoid possible allergies. The silicone-treated texture makes the prongs soft and smooth, to minimise the risk of injury to the nasal epithelium. The curved prong design ensures better anatomical adaptation to paediatric patients’ noses.

The nasal cannula for oxygen from Intersurgical is completely transparent, making it easy to see inside it to spot any obstructions or fissures. It features a multi-channel design to maintain oxygen flow even if one channel becomes blocked.

The tube is 2.1 metres long, allowing the patient to move freely. For maximum comfort, the nasal cannula can be fitted with an extension if additional length is needed. Oxygen can be administered continuously and at a low flow through the cannula, making it ideal for use both in hospital and at home.

Correct use of the paediatric nasal cannula is crucial to ensure the right oxygen saturation, and it is essential that it is fitted properly to maximise its efficiency and comfort. To moisturise the nasal cavities, water-based lotions compatible with oxygen therapy must be used before and during therapy.
