Pixi paediatric CPAP nasal mask (ResMed)

Description

The Pixi paediatric mask from ResMed is specially designed for children who need CPAP therapy to treat disorders like obstructive sleep apnoea. This is not a smaller version of a mask for adults: the Pixi model is adapted to the bone structure, facial features and skin sensitivity of children, to minimise pressure in soft areas.

Developed by a team of experts committed to children’s health and welfare, this mask takes into account all the peculiarities of the youngest patients. Its design only covers the nose to avoid pressure on the eyes and keep the face uncovered, assuring greater comfort. The adjustment points are located away from the face to reduce the movement of the straps, and the mark does not have any small parts that might cause harm.

For the sake of parents’ peace of mind, the Pixi mask allows the child to be heard during the night, and the use of an additional baby monitor is suggested. The quick-release clasp allows the mask to be removed without altering the setting of the harness, and the emergency release clasp means it can be removed quickly in critical situations by pulling on the bottom strap of the harness.

The tube with the mask has two adjustable positions to adapt to the posture in which the child sleeps. It is also flexible and elastic, allowing it to be bent and stretched easily without getting tangled or trapped as the child moves about during the night.
